Intermediate & Upper Intermediate

The first part of this course is intended to give a student with a good foundation in English greater fluency in English and the minimum English for academic purposes. Through the course the student will learn a much wider range of vocabulary and grammar to use in a wide variety of listening, reading and writing situations. They will also learn the necessary formats and vocabulary for academic English.

At the end of the first term the students should be able to reach the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

 

  • Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.

  • Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.

  • Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and independent disadvantages of various options.


The second part of this course is intended to give a student with a superior foundation in English nearly native fluency in English and the standard level of English for academic purposes. Through the course the student will learn an extensive range of vocabulary and grammar to use in a wide variety of listening, reading and writing situations. They will also learn more nuanced formats and vocabulary for academic English.

At the end of the term the students should be able to reach the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

 

  • Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning.

  • Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.

  • Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

  • Can produce clear, well structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Academies Australasia College (AAC) Certificate in English – Pre-Intermediate or equivalent certification (Students without a formal qualification will be given a placement test to determine the level of proficiency)

Graduation Requirement:
In order to be awarded the Certificate in English - Intermediate & Upper Intermediate, student must be competent in all the performance criteria for all the modules within the eligibility period of 2 years from the date of commencement and has no outstanding fees.

Certificate will be awarded by Academies Australasia College.
